The Online Learning Community

The Online Learning Community (OLC) is highly successful community of New Zealand Secondary Schools, from across New Zealand, who reciprocate to provide quality teaching and learning opportunities for their students in the an online environment.

 

Affiliated schools can offer their students a wide range of curriculum areas, courses and subjects, all based on the New Zealand Curriulum and NCEA qualifications.

 

The OLC belongs to a larger New Zealand online learning community - the Virtual Learning Network (VLN) - which gives schools access to over 100 courses, enabling them to more successfully meet the learning needs of their students.

Anywhere Anytime

 

A personal digital device (with inbuilt camera and microphone) and reliable internet access, are the only technical requirements. Students connect to their online, face-to-face lesson with their e-teacher, using ZOOM, a free, internet accessible application. Once downloaded on their device, students connect to their online lesson at the specified day and time, using the unique ZOOM meeting link or ID number.

 

Weekly lessons are also recorded by the e-teacher and shared with the class, so that students can review the lesson at any time. If a student misses a particular lesson, they can view the recording at any time and carry out the necessary coursework throughout the week.

Young Enterprise and the OLC 2022

The Online Learning Community (OLC) is excited to announce a partnership with Young Enterprise New Zealand in 2022.  

The Young Enterprise Scheme is now available to any secondary school student from anywhere within New Zealand.  

 

Students will be taught by a specialist Young Enterprise teacher, who will deliver the course via Zoom video conference, along with access to digitally curated coursework.

 

Students will be supported via a highly successful, well-established, professional online learning community.

 

Programme details:  YES 2022

Registration:  $35.00 (payable to Young Enterprise NZ)

Commencement date:  Thursday 10 February

Schedule: Weekly Zoom meetings every Thursday, 10:00 - 11:00am
